Previously, we talked about making money at home and the major differences between how the wealthy and poor feel about money. Their relationship with it literally determines their financial success and how much or little they have.

Everything in the world is energy and money is no different. I’m sure you’ve heard of The Secret ? the DVD that was released in 2006. It was in The Secret that millions of people learned about the Law of Attraction and the principle that “like attracts like.” Your thoughts literally create your reality through this principle. Now, the Law of Attraction (LOA) works whether you aware of it or not - and this is where most people fall into a trap.

Most of us are not aware that we create our own reality with our thoughts. People think about things which they would rather not have in their life and without realizing it, bring them about. You’ve probably spent time and effort worrying about something which you shouldn’t have and then had that very thing you’d worried abut come to pass? This is an example of the Law Of Attraction at work.

The LOA works for you whether you want it to do so or not. When you think about things, you can make them happen; this is why you have too banish worries and negative thoughts from your mind and focus on positive outcomes instead.

As our example, let’s use money. You may spend a lot time worrying about money. If you do this, you are creating a reality where money becomes something that you need to worry about. This all goes back to what we were talking about in last week’s e-zine. Rich people understand the LOA and use it for their benefit. They think positively about money and as a result, they have no problems with it. On the other hand, poor people spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about money, which makes it a problem for them.

The LOA is effective in every aspect of your life, not just in the fiscal arena. Again, you need to think about the things that you want, not the things that you don’t. Your thoughts and more importantly, your feelings can create your reality.

See, thinking about any one thing is only the trigger than signals feelings. How you feel about any one thought is what the LOA responds to. Remember, (in week 2’s ezine) we discussed the role that desire plays in setting goals? That is because the LOA actually responds to the way you feel, thoughts are just the origination point.

Think about it this way, behind every thought is a feeling good or bad. While there are varying degrees to “good” or “bad” feelings, there is really no in between. You are either focusing on a feeling that will either create the result you want or don’t want. The more intense the feeling, the more intense the LOA will be. Feeling really good about something carries more power (or energy) than feeling somewhat neutral. Of course, the pendulum swings the other way as well; feeling really bad about something carries as much energy as feeling really good.

The future is not immutable ? you can use the power of your mind and the LOA to shape it. Once you know this, you’ll be better able to focus on positive outcomes to make them a reality on your life.

Thrift store versus garage sales - which are better? Garage sale markups are not as high as the thrift store, and you can find more items that are “like new.” The other benefit of a garage sale is that you can haggle with a seller; thrift stores are less likely to let you ask for a price reduction. You do, however have to watch out for sellers that have emotional attachment to their items. While the vase given to them by their grandmother may have sentimental value, that does not affect the actual value of the item.

Make sure you know your local market. Not everyone likes the same thing, but you can identify top selling items in different categories. For instance, if you are buying books, go to an online book store and review what their best sellers are. Sometimes, you will buy something only to find out that you can’t sell it for more than what you paid because there isn’t a market for the item. That’s okay, as you will most likely make up for the breaking even on something else you sell at a profit. Buying and selling is a little bit of a guessing game mixed with research. Take heart, as there are many instances of individuals that made hundreds of dollars from items that a seller considered junk. Deciding where to sell your items depends on what the item is. There are several websites that are best for selling books, with Amazon.com and Half.com being the top two. Items can be sold on Ebay.com and usually make a profit if your description and terms are well written; the better your description and picture, the more money you’ll sell for. Another place to sell items is on Craigslist.org; just look up your local area and see what prices other people are selling similar items. You can also offer to barter for items on their site with relative ease.

The last option to earn money off items is hosting your own garage sale. This can be profitable if you go to garage sales at the end of the day when the seller is trying to get rid of everything to avoid packing it back up. You can also check out Craigslist.org for free items that are being offered. Many times after a garage sale, people will list that all their leftover items are sitting on the curb, free for the taking. If you have a truck and some garage space, you can take everything off their hands at the end of the day. The benefit to sellers is they don’t have to haul leftovers back inside, and you get items for free - a win/win situation!

Try to stick with what you know and like. If you’re interested in teapots or rooster items, narrow down your purchases to those types. So you don’t.

What you should do for a minute is to step outside your emotions. Look at your situation objectively–as if you were analyzing your best friend’s situation and advising him.

Why don’t you ask her about it?” You would encourage investigation rather than dismiss it.

Remember that not all of the voices in your head are good, but neither are all of them bad. It’s learning to tell the difference. Separating yourself from your feelings will help you do that.

This situation may sound familiar to you, and you may be also wondering if there are options. Everyday we are flooded with hundreds of online ads, many that claim we can earn thousands right from our home computer! Sounds great, right?

Well, it would be great if you were willing to pay a $150 start up cost or dedicate 30 hours a week to taking surveys. Who wants to send some stranger $150 over the internet if you arenat really sure what youare getting in return? Weave all heard, aIf it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.a Who would realistically be able to pull themselves away from the toddler long enough to make $1500 a month in surveys? If this were possible, we would all be professional survey takers.

That leaves us with the more traditional ways to make money from home. If you are a fairly good sales woman and you know lots of people, you can have some success selling something from home. There are cosmetics, candles, home goods, childrensa toys, rubber stamping products, marital aids, and all sorts of cooking gadgets. You could find a product to fit nearly any personality.

So how much money does selling one of these products actually pay? Like anything it depends on how dedicated you want to be too it. A little online research and an unscientific poll tell me that you could make anything from $30-$200 a show. If you can swing two shows a month youare looking at $60 - $400 a month. OK so maybe that will take care of a dinner or two out a month. If you are really good, you will have enough to pay for a family vacation or Christmas gifts.

Realistically, you will amakea more money by cutting back on expenses associated with work. Drop down to one family car instead of two and youave earned $300 - $500 a month! Shaving off those dinners out because you donat have time to cook could earn you another couple hundred dollars a month. Not to mention your work clothes, lunches out, oh and that enormous child care bill!

So sit down with your spouse and a calculator. It is very possible that you will aearna nearly as much money by staying at home and cutting out your work related expenses as you do going to work and missing your child all day long. While you are doing your calculating donat forget to take into account your new lower tax responsibility. Having only one income might put you in a lower tax bracket, making you eligible for all sorts of incentives from Uncle Sam!

In the end, it’s your decision, is it worth all that money to leave your children behind all day? It may make them independent, but it may also make them strangers. All in all, each person has to decide what’s best for them and their family. Most working families could save hundreds of dollars a month if they really only wanted to make the proper sacrifices.
